The thing people might not know about authors is that many of us have day jobs, because writing a book does not automatically mean that you are rich and/or famous! In fact, it usually means the opposite. The good news for me is that I love my day job! Actually, it’s a day and night job. I work for a television show that’s on late at night and I’m on a team with a very small group of people who are hilarious and smart and kind, and if it weren’t for all of them and how easy and fun they make my days, I might never have written Jane Jones: Worst. Vampire. Ever. in the first place! Thanks especially to Deirdre, John Jude, Sarah, Robyn and Chase!
When my boss, Andy, told me he was going to show my book on our show, I was really excited. Not just because I thought it would help sell some copies, but because I’m proud that I wrote it and it made me feel good that he wanted to do something so nice for me. Look at how awesome the cover looked on TV! Then…something truly awesome happened. He gave my book to our guest that night, who has her OWN TV show that’s on every morning and then THIS happened…
That’s Kelly Ripa holding my book up on TV too! I have the clip on my DVR, but I haven’t watched it yet because every time I pick up the remote, my hands get all shaky. Lots of people told me it was pretty fun, though. She said nice things about the show I work on and my book. I think she said that my job was as a stage manager, which isn’t exactly what I do…BUT WHATEVER, CLOSE ENOUGH!
I’m not sure what I did to deserve all this, but I will take it!!! Thanks again to Andy Cohen, the amazing Kelly Ripa, her wonderful husband Mark Consuelos (who isn’t pictured here, which is too bad for all of us) and to Regis Philbin for wearing a tie that I think complements the cover nicely.
